A weekend workshop at HeartSpace Horse Sanctuary in Redmond’ Oregon with Melanie Monge, Kate O’Kelley and Saadiah Freeman.
About the Workshop:
Connection is a vital part of being human. And over the last year, to protect ourselves and others, we have had to make radical changes to the ways in which we connect. When we are unable to hug, touch, gather and laugh with other humans, many of us struggle with feelings of isolation and disconnection. When we feel isolated and disconnected we become alienating, not only from our own suffering, but also from the suffering of others.
In these difficult times, how can we stay connected to ourselves and others? What does it mean to be truly connected, and how can we cultivate that quality of deep connection, no matter what’s going on in the world around us?
In this workshop we’ll tap into the wisdom of horses to:
Experience the power of authentic, heartfelt connection
Deepen our ability to remain present in our bodies and in the moment
Discover the ways in which patterns of connection and disconnection impact our lives
Revitalise our connection with ourselves, our communities and our planet
This workshop is an opportunity to explore any challenges you may be having from a unique perspective, in a supportive space. We will investigate things of connection and disconnection through a combination of individual coaching sessions with horses, group discussion and reflection (both with and without horses), journaling and creative activities. There will be no riding involved – all interactions with the horses will take place from the ground and no previous horse experience is required. All that is needed is an open mind, are willing heart, and a desire to engage with the natural world.
By donation: Minimum $100 to HeartSpace Horse Sanctuary
This donation will go directly to the horses
Workshop dates: October 24-25, 2020

Kate O’Kelley
Kate O’Kelley’s passion for self-exploration and self-expression has driven her work in the world over the last 20+ years. Her endeavors draw heavily upon formal education degrees in marriage, child and family therapy and elementary education, years of study in shamanic practices, and training in therapeutic writing.
Collaborating with horses is visceral and powerful, the physical experience amplifying and imprinting moments of insight and healing. Kate first personally experienced this in 2011 when she was introduced to equine-assisted learning. Immediately inspired to learn more – both personally and professionally – she pursued training in Epona and Eagala approaches. Since then, she has cherished her time with horses, attending workshops and personal sessions, strolling in pastures, scooping manure and facilitating equine-assisted learning sessions with youth, adults and family units. Exploring the self, the heart and connectivity through reflection, writing and shamanic practices done with equine partners is one of the things Kate enjoys most in life.
